ABOUT
The 209 Design Group is a team of real estate, design and construction experts dedicated to seeing your project through from concept to completion and beyond. We met while collaborating on a luxury residential renovation in Brooklyn Heights, and quickly discovered a shared vision of elegant design that uses the inherent qualities of an existing space to serve the ways our clients live, work, and play. With wide-ranging and complementary talents, we offer a fully integrated approach to renovation, ensuring that concept, design, construction and maintenance work together to deliver an outcome of exceptional beauty and functionality.
Order is the shape upon which beauty depends.

OUR TEAM
ADAM ALTER
As a New York State licensed architect, Adam has worked with a wide range of project types, scales and personalities. He understands a successful design project requires open communication, diligence, persistence and spontaneity. Adam first became interested in design when noticing the everyday patterns and geometries of the built world: architecture, products and graphic design. Subsequently, his passion for drawing and its potential to shape tangible space led him to obtain a Master of Architecture from Pratt Institute. Living in Brooklyn has sparked his enthusiasm for the ways in which community and mixed-use environments can powerfully add to the quality of life.
ANDREW CHADSEY
Growing up in New York City, Andrew was fascinated by its wealth of buildings and restaurants. After graduating from the University of Michigan, he returned to NYC and worked his way up to head chef at a downtown restaurant, learning the importance of kitchen functionality and design. Realizing life on the line wasn’t for him, he studied at NYU’s Schack School of Real Estate. In 2011, he joined a prominent real estate development company where he handled construction purchasing and budgeting. Over time, his role expanded to take on construction and property management roles, including interacting with co-op and condominium boards. Andrew brings a breadth of knowledge in construction management, material selection and kitchen functionality and design.
RUTH CHADSEY
Ruth Chadsey is committed to making things beautiful without sacrificing functionality. Her background is a mix of aesthetics and systems and she melds them to create pleasing yet efficient environments for her clients. Ruth has worked as a home furnishings buyer for Bloomingdale’s; was a Vice President at Citibank where she structured and ran their consumer mortgage business; and most recently operated her own organizing business where she helped clients streamline and organize their space. Ruth holds an MBA from Columbia University and a degree from the New York School of Interior Design.
